This hub is for the two questions people ask before they queue a raid: can this PC run Active Matter, and which edition is worth the money. It is not a raid walkthrough. For extracts, anomalies, and first-hour kits, use the Guides Hub. For guns and plates after you own the game, use the tier list.
Active Matter is a paid client from Matter Team / Gaijin Network Ltd. Standard is 29.99 USD/EUR. It is not free-to-play. CAM (Crystallised Active Matter) is a one-time edition grant plus daily-objective drip; wipes do not restore the edition pile. BattlEye kernel anti-cheat is mandatory. An SSD is required. The install is about 45 GB.
Specs and APIs
Open system requirements for the Windows and Linux tables. Minimum is a 64-bit Windows 10/11 box with an i5-6600 or Ryzen 3 1300X, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti, RX 470, or Arc A580. Recommended is an i5-8700 or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and an RTX 2060, RX 5700 XT, or Arc A770. Steam lists Linux / SteamOS with the same CPU and GPU floor; recommended Linux is Ubuntu 26.04. DX11 is the historical default. Gigastructure added DX12 beta, Vulkan beta, DLSS, FSR, XeSS, and frame generation. 250 Shades of Liberty sets DX12 beta as the default on Intel Iris Xe so XeSS can run.
Controllers are playable and still being improved. Keyboard and mouse support for consoles is in the works. Steam Deck ran the demos with BattlEye enabled on Linux. If BattlEye refuses to start, the raid server will not let you in — that is not a graphics-settings problem.
Editions and storefronts
Open editions compared before you pay a Gaijin upgrade. The four SKUs:
- Standard — 25,000 credits, 300 CAM, starter weapons and kit.
- Advanced — 60,000 credits, 1,300 CAM, first stash expansion, first Replicator queue, Bouncer, Harpy recipe.
- Premium — 135,000 credits, 3,800 CAM, Reaper sleeve, triple stash, two queue slots, Bonecrusher, Robot Dog, Harpy, Bouncer, Woodcutter’s Argument.
- Elite Squad — Premium contents plus two Standard keys for a three-stack.
PC is playable now on Gaijin. Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 storefronts open 15 September 2026. Transfer the same edition plus progress to Steam until 23 November 2026. Elite Squad becomes Premium on Steam (no extra keys). Gifted Standard keys stay Standard. There is no planned wipe; Harmonization and self-wipe replace it. That policy is on Steam and Console.
How to use these tools with the rest of the wiki
Buy the edition that matches how you raid, then set graphics from the spec page, then learn the loop. Getting Started and controls cover the first hour. How to extract and how to beat anomalies keep the kit you paid for. Downtown and Dalniy Island are the maps 250 Shades actually changed. After a week of raids, rebuild from the weapons, loadouts, and armor lists instead of clinging to the edition starter pack.

Does Active Matter run on Linux or Steam Deck?
Steam lists Linux and SteamOS with the same CPU and GPU floor as Windows. BattlEye is enabled on Linux. Steam Deck ran in demos. Treat Linux as playable when BattlEye starts; it is not a separate Gaijin launcher SKU. Full tables are on system requirements.
Is Active Matter free-to-play?
No. You buy Standard (29.99 USD/EUR) or a higher edition. CAM is a one-time edition grant plus daily objectives, not a cash shop currency you restock on every wipe.
Which edition should I buy?
Standard if you only need access. Advanced if you want stash, a second Replicator slot, Bouncer, and Harpy. Premium if you want Reaper, Bonecrusher, and Robot Dog. Elite Squad if you are buying for a three-player stack. Compare them on editions.
Do I need an SSD?
Yes. Steam and the official FAQ both mark an SSD as required. Plan about 45 GB free. HDD installs are outside the supported spec.
