Maps Hub

Active Matter raids do not all take place on one nameless extraction map. You choose a zone, a raid type, and sometimes a modifier, then you live with the loot table, the monsters, and the PvP density that come with that choice. This hub is the index. Dalniy Island is the Soviet industrial home map. Downtown is the North American city added in 250 Shades of Liberty. Raid types explains Isolated versus Open, Unstable Zone, Collapse overtime, Nexus, solo matchmaking, and the collaborative contracts marked TO ALL AGENTS.

Matter Team’s locations sit outside ordinary space. Dalniy is a temperate island of rusted industry, labs, and gravity scars. Downtown is avenues and ruined skyscrapers still patrolled by police and SWAT. Airport Africa is hangars and a passenger jet frozen in a gravity anomaly. Nexus fights currently use Vanilla Mall. You do not need to memorize every crate. You need to know which zone matches the kit on loadouts and whether you queued Isolated PvE or Open PvPvE.

The four places you will actually queue

Dalniy Island is still the backbone. Park, Shegolskoe, Dam, Headquarters, Gigastructure, Dogorsk, Factory, Cargo Port, Military Base, Scrapyard, Ozernoe — different raids on one island, mostly Soviet loot, with rarer Western guns as a hint that other timelines bleed in. Night raids now throw aurora over the island. Distortion and Overgrowth modifiers rewrite sightlines and monster density. Read the Dalniy Island page before you treat “the island” as one POI.

Downtown is the North American raid set: standard Downtown, Downtown Unstable Zone, and Downtown Collapse (the overtime successor to America: Collapse). Cover is buses, taxis, and broken glass. Enemies are distorted law enforcement plus American Flowermen variants. Pack CQB from the weapon tier list, not a 10× SV-98. Details sit on Downtown.

Gigastructure is the brutalist megastructure with purge cycles and elevators. Full routing sits on Gigastructure.

Airport Africa is the short African raid: hangars of military gear and a plane held in a gravity bubble. Treat it as a vertical, high-value Factory with worse falls. Full routing sits on Airport Africa.

Nexus is the large PvP mode, not an extraction backpack puzzle. Vanilla Mall is the live map. Vehicles, objectives, and respawn rules differ from a shrinking Isolated Park. Use Nexus Battles for the mode and this hub only to remember it is a different queue.

Modifiers that change the kit

Distortion bends sightlines and audio. Thermals, headsets, and compact guns outperform long iron-sight lanes.

Overgrowth is Park’s cousin: vegetation, Flowermen, Dendroids, fire. A flamethrower outranks an S-tier AR here. See how to beat anomalies.

Unstable Zone is the battle-royale-shaped cousin: the safe area shrinks, exits get meaner, and you play the clock harder than a crate. Downtown Unstable Zone is the clean example.

Collapse / overtime is the high-chaos timer: America: Collapse became Downtown Collapse; Headquarters has run Assistance Protocol overtime. Pack durability (titan, TFMK-I) and do not bring a loot goblin backpack.

Rare loot is no longer a rumor. The raid select screen and the in-raid map mark high-value pockets with color-coded resource icons. Monster clusters can spawn as high-danger, high-tier loot piles. If the icon is lit and your kit is budget, that is a mid-kit invitation, not a PASGT invitation.

How to pick a map in thirty seconds

  1. If you cannot replace the kit, queue Isolated on a Dalniy raid you already know. Edition can gate Isolated — check editions.
  2. If you need ceramics, keys, or Soviet belts, stay on Dalniy: Headquarters, Military Base, Cargo Port.
  3. If you need Western loot, suppressors, and SWAT practice, queue Downtown.
  4. If the modifier is Overgrowth, go Park with fire or skip the queue.
  5. If you want PvP without losing a replicator M4A1, take rental gear (raid-independent) or Nexus.
  6. If you want to learn extraction rules, read how to extract before Downtown Collapse.

New operatives should still start on the beginner guide and controls. Gun ranks do not transfer across maps: an Origin-12 that is S-tier in a Downtown lobby is a trap on Dam catwalks. Sleeve and plate choices on armor should follow the same map logic — titan for Collapse, polyethylene for Isolated Park, mobility for Gigastructure.

Simultaneous matchmaking means you can sit in more than one raid queue. That is a quality-of-life feature, not a reason to AFK a chad kit. When in doubt, Isolated Shegolskoe teaches gravity and loot without a second squad in your attic. When you are ready to be hunted, Open Factory hangars and Downtown avenues are the real game.

Official flyovers from the Agency are useful for POI names, not for loadouts. This wiki’s child pages are written for operators who have to extract, not for tourists. Use Dalniy Island for the island routing, Downtown for the city, Airport Africa for the hangars, and raid types for the queue picker. Patch context lives on the updates hub. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the main Active Matter map?

Dalniy Island is the home zone: Park, Shegolskoe, Dam, Headquarters, Gigastructure, Dogorsk, and the industrial raids. Downtown and Airport Africa are additional raid zones, and Nexus uses Vanilla Mall.

What is the difference between Isolated and Open?

Isolated is PvE without rival squads and can be gated by edition. Open is PvPvE with squads of up to three. Full rules sit on raid types.

Where should I go for Western guns versus Soviet guns?

Dalniy still leans Soviet, with rarer Western drops. Downtown is the North American loot table — police, SWAT, and NATO-pattern guns. Airport Africa is hangar military gear.

What does Unstable Zone mean on Downtown?

It is the shrinking, battle-royale-shaped version of the city raid. Play the clock and the exit, not a full loot circuit. Collapse is the overtime variant.

Do I need a different kit per map?

Yes. Park wants fire. Downtown wants SMGs. Gigastructure wants mobility and a Gravity gun if you find one. Use loadouts after you pick the zone.
